GC-MS & LC-MS/MS
Chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry are very powerful techniques that allow the separation, identification and quantification of numerous organic compounds in samples of interest. We have own instrumentation in chromatographic techniques with mass spectrometry of both liquids and gases and extensive experience, with more than 150 projects where this technique, along with others, has been key to reach objectives. It is worth noting the numerous projects realized using solid phase Microextraction (SPME) coupled to GC-MS.
Transmission electron microscopy allows the study of samples in different layers. Although it is certainly the least used in solving analytical problems, it is sometimes key to verify a hypothesis.
Infrared spectroscopy provides important information that allows, in combination with other techniques, the structural elucidation of compounds. The use of FTIR with both ATR device and KBr tablet has been definitive in many projects that were incomplete without using this technique. Such as the identification of impurities, characterization of internal lubricants for capsules, etc.
Scanning electron microscopy provides double information - morphology and microanalysis - which is sometimes very useful in determining the nature of a solid impurity. We have extensive experience in data processing and problem solving with this technique. This technique when used well provides elemental information about an impurity.
The atomic force microscopy allows to know in detail the characteristics of a surface; roughness, tendencies, imperfections, etc. One disadvantage of this technique is that the surface cannot always be measured, for example, by the presence of small curvatures. CSI ANALITICA has designed specific supports for certain surfaces and using this technique can measure the surface of a cellulose capsule for inhalation purposes, on its internal surface.
Other techniques that have been used by CSI ANALITICA to achieve more specific objectives and/or to comply with regulations are: X-ray diffraction (XRD), ICP-MS and ICP-OES for the determination of specific metals, flame spectrometry, etc. If the technique you need is not in this list, do not hesitate to contact us.
